with The Larks
Fancy a chat?
Want to share your stories of your city?
Or perhaps just nip in for a flurry of fun…?
Pop in for playtime with The Larks during their week in residence in Preston, Lancashire, to explore games, playfulness and magic in the everyday.
You might have a lot of time on your hands or just a few minutes to spare.
You might have been here forever or just be passing through.
Everyone is welcome.
We want to hear stories of your city, which streets you tread most often, which you avoid.
We want to play games with you, what you played in the playground and what you play now.
We want to work with you to develop a playful performance which we’ll present in the city at the end of the week, as part of the Derelict programme.
If you are planning to join us for more than an hour, we’d love to know in advance, so we can make sure we have plenty for you to get involved in. Drop a line to firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us when you’d like to come, and for how long. We’ll be around all week from morning until night. The more time you spend with us, the more we’ll be able to involve you in the process of game design, test and play. You might be a student, an artist or just curious…
About The Larks
The Larks combine the spectacle of theatre with the agency of play. Their work sees unexpected blends of gaming, interactivity and the theatrical. They are fascinated by the use of game structures to tell stories, and we are passionate about engaging with ‘the now’. In their heavily interactive and reactive work participants are constantly reminded they are part of the unfolding story; making decisions, taking responsibility, affecting outcomes. This makes for a powerful and immediate platform to address topics which may otherwise seem difficult or inaccessible.
